Season Finale - Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Sculptural Manoeuvres in the Park - This year’s final National Event will be a gathering at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park on Sunday 23 September. It will be preceded by a run out through Yorkshire and the Peaks on Saturday. The Park will provide a private parking area for TVRs, with our own café, as a perfect base from which to explore the sculpture, parkland, and heritage of the nearby area. The main Visitors’ Centre is just a five-minute walk away and includes a wealth of information about the exhibits together with a full restaurant and café for the gourmets amongst us. There are also gift and craft shops if you cannot find what you want at the Club van or TVR - related traders, who will join us throughout the day. We hope that you already have the dates set aside in your diary, so here are some further details to help with your planning. The Run Out on Saturday 22 September starts from “The Wentworth”, Maple Road, Barnsley, S75 3DL. (5 minutes from M1 J36) It will finish around 3.00pm so you have plenty of time to recover and prepare for the Finale Event at the YSP on Sunday. There is lots of accommodation available locally, but you may wish to consider the Ibis Styles Barnsley Hotel who offer double/twin rooms at £64 including a continental breakfast (ibis) or the Premier Inn (Premier). The Ibis Style is located midway between Saturday’s and Sunday’s activities, and the Premier Inn is close to the Run Out starting point. Guided tours of the sculpture are available for pre-booking at a cost of just £4 each and are highly recommended. They MUST be booked in advance. Please see below to contact Tony Hodgson and book one. If you prefer a country walk around the parkland, or a visit to Bretton Hall (in the same park) then these are available as well. A visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park alone is great, now just imagine how much better it would be with our own sculptural TVRs on show as well. It is not to be missed. The cost for all this is just £7 per car, payable at the gate. More information about the venue is here: Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, Wakefield, WF4 4LG. (https://ysp.org.uk/) For further information, and to book a YSP sculpture tour, please contact South Yorkshire Regional Organiser, ro@tvrcc-south-yorks.co.uk Tel. 07801061436.
